Tom Tykwer's breathtaking movie is "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer." It is a drama movie which passes in 18th century of France and it is based on a novel which is very famous (The writer is Patrick Süskind). The story of movie begins with hanging ceremony of Jean Baptiste Grenouille who is the main character of the movie. Between the scene that he gets of the coach and walks to execution, the flash back occurs and the real story begins with his birth. He is left by his mother and raised in an orphanage with a super power: keen sense of smell. When Grenouille is child, he is trying to recognize anything by their scent. Afterwards, he starts working in a perfume shop that prepares perfumes for rich ladies in France. He learns the story of perfume (From Egypt to Europe) and thinks that charming smells have more value. During that time he realizes that he has no scent and it makes him feel disappointment and worthless. Then he decides to create a perfect smell somehow and get value. But how? A clue; young and beautiful ladies have the most charming scent. However, to get a woman's scent by cutting her hair and oiling, he needs to make her persuade. If no one accepts your offer, what would you do to combine their scent to create a perfect perfume for your body? And do you think this makes you a real person?
It is really interesting movie that made me amazed. With the plot, script, costumes, soundtracks, acting and with a gorgeous final, it is a masterpiece. Tykwer surpasses himself year by year and this movie is his last point. This movie also has special effects. For example when Grenouille smells something, the camera flash backs to his history or moves to different parts of the place to make the audience understand how he feels.
